The topik of my work is Oxford
AS you know Oxford is well known not only in the UK but also all over the world
There are a lot of interesting historical sight there
But Oxford is famous for its university too
A lot of young people from different countries study there
I was interested in Oxford and wanted to know about its past and present
So the purpose of my work is studying a historical development of Oxford
My tasks are - to find and study information about Oxford - to introduce the topic to my classmates

  1. The topik of my work is Oxford
  2. AS you know Oxford is well known not only in the UK but also all over the world
  3. There are a lot of interesting  historical sight there
  4. But Oxford is famous for its university too
  5. A lot of young people from different countries study there
  6. I was interested in Oxford  and wanted to know about its past and present
  7. So the purpose of my work is studying a historical development of Oxford
  8. My tasks are  - to find and study information about Oxford  - to introduce the topic to my classmates
 
  1. Oxford stands on the bank of the Thames
  2. The name «Oxford» means «Ford for Oxen»(in Russian it means – брод для быков)
  3. First it was mentioned in the «Anglo – Saxon Chronicles» in 912
  4. In England there were many illiterates even among the clergy in the 10th century
  5. And so about 1117 was founded the fist university in the UK to give their clergy more complete education
  6. For its purpose was chosen Oxford one of the largest cities of the kingdom
  7. Aver the time teaching at this university has become compulsory for the nobility
  8. Nowadays Oxford university is a group of independence colleges
  9. It includes 39 colleges
  10. More than 18,5 thousand students study in Oxford
  11. About a quarter of them are foreigners
  12. Women had been admitted to Oxford university only in 1920s and education was separated
  13. But in 1970 s the separate education was abolished
  14. The students study at 62 departments
  15. The basic directions are humanities maths physics social sciences medicine life science and environment
 
  1. There are some famous colleges
  2. One of them is Merton College a historically significant building
  3. It was a model for all other colleges of Oxford
  4. Magdalen College  is famous for its high bell tower the symbol of the sity
  5. It is the most luxurious college in Oxford
  6. New College is famous for a chapel and a porch
 
  1. The greatness of the university is always determined by the level of the people who studied there
  2. A lot of famous people graduated from Oxford university
  3. They are Roger Bacon Thomas More Robert Boyte Oscar Wild Tolkien Lewis Carroll Margaret Thatcher Indira Gandhi and others
  4. The most famous is Bill Clinton
 
  1. Oxford is an old sity and so there are a lot of famous buildings there
 
  1. For example Bodleian Library –one of the largest libraries in the sity
  2. AShmolean Museum is the first museum in Tngland open to visitors
  3. Blenheim Palace is designed in baroque style
  4. It is a family estafe of the Dukes of Marlborough
  5. The Tower Carfax is situated in the centre of the sity
  6. From the Tower you can see the whole sity
  7. Studing this topic I used different sources to find interesting tacts about Oxford
  8. I think this work will be interesting for all who study English
  9. Next year I would like to continue my work about Oxford university
